NFL Rumors: Daniel Jones Eyed By 10 Teams, Could Play Now for 1 After Giants Release

There doesn’t appear to be a shortage of interest in quarterback Daniel Jones following his release from the New York Giants.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported on Sunday that 10 teams “have already reached out” to Jones, with one potential suitor giving him an opportunity to play right away.

Glazer also confirmed that the signal-caller prefers to sign with a playoff-contending team, which was previously reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Per Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings are considered “two of the likeliest teams” to land Jones.

It’s unknown if the team offering the 27-year-old an opportunity to get on the field right away is also attempting a playoff push, which will likely influence his decision in free agency.

Given Jones’ $11.8 million contract balance for his 2024 campaign as well as $23 million in injury guarantees following the regular season, he’s expected to clear waivers on Monday and will sign a one-year deal with a new team “sooner rather than later” (via Schefter).

It may be difficult for him to find a landing spot that meets both of his reported interests, as teams competing for a playoff berth typically have a stable quarterback situation.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler listed the San Francisco 49ers as a “situation to watch” for Jones on Saturday, which could allow him to see immediate action. Starter Brock Purdy won’t suit up in Week 12 due to a shoulder injury.

The Ravens offer a reserve role on a squad with contending aspirations, as they appear to be headed towards their third consecutive playoff appearance with a 7-4 record. Jones would sit squarely behind reigning MVP Lamar Jackson on Baltimore’s depth chart, though.

Las Vegas gives him a clearer path towards playing time given the inconsistency from Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ridder, but the Raiders have dropped out of the playoff picture with a 2-8 start to the season.

Despite his benching in New York which ultimate resulted in his request to be waived, Jones is still generating interest from several teams before he clears waivers on Monday at 4 p.m. ET.
