Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams reportedly is looking beyond 2024 for his potential landing spot as the NFL trade deadline approaches on Nov. 5.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the New York Jets and Raiders have “been in touch” about a potential trade for the wide receiver but that Adams has some reservations about the post-Aaron Rodgers days in New York.

“While Adams would like to be reunited with his former QB, I was told he has some concerns about Rodgers’ plans to stay in New York past this season,” Russini wrote. “Adams doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his current deal, so he has no choice in where he lands.”

Adams would immediately step in and be a dynamic target for Rodgers in New York. The two connected for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns during their time together in Green Bay and Adams has remained an excellent receiver since joining the Raiders.

He has 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown through three games in 2024 and has not had a sub-1,000 yard season since 2019. He would slot into a receiving core that consists of Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard as the Jets hope to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

This is all great for the 2024 season, but the situation in New York could turn quickly. Rodgers has one year remaining on his contract after this season, but the 40-year-old could be a candidate to retire after this season.

Tyrod Taylor and 2024 fifth-round pick Jordan Travis are the only other quarterbacks on the roster, so the position stability after Rodgers leaves is bleak. While there is an “out” in Adams’ contract following the 2024 season, he still could be with his next team through the 2026 season and would likely have to see the aftermath of Rodgers time with the Jets.

While the potential of playing alongside Rodgers again may be intriguing for Adams, finding a team with a more stable quarterback situation for the next three years may be preferable.
