Notes & Stats: Giants vs. Falcons Recap

*Wan’Dale Robinson also had seven catches to increase his season total to 78. His previous career high of 60 was set last year.

*Tyrone Tracy didn’t have a big day running the ball, gaining only 26 yards on seven carries. But he did score the Giants’ only touchdown and gave them a 7-3 lead on a 2-yard pass from Drew Lock just seven seconds into the second quarter.

The score was Tracy’s first career touchdown reception. It was also the first by a Giants running back this season and the first since Nov. 19, 2023, when Saquon Barkley had two touchdown catches vs. Washington.

*Tracy, who also has four rushing touchdowns, tied Nabers for the team lead with five.

*Tracy increased his season rushing total to 721 yards. That moved him past Eddie Price (703 yards in 1950) and into a tie with Andre Williams for fourth on the Giants’ rookie rushing list. Ron Dayne is third with 770 yards in 2000.

*In his third start of the season, Lock completed 22 of 39 passes for 210 yards, the touchdown to Tracy, and two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns.

*Jessie Bates III and Matthew Judon scored Atlanta’s defensive touchdowns. Bates gave the Falcons a 10-7 lead when he picked off a Lock pass intended for Robinson and returned it 55 yards to the end zone midway through the second quarter. On the second play of the third quarter, Lock’s pass to Malik Nabers hit Zach Harrison and was plucked out of the air by Judon, who ran it back 26 yards for the score.

*Lock is the first Giants quarterback to throw multiple pick-sixes in a game since Eli Manning on Nov 25, 2007, against Minnesota. Three Manning passes were returned for touchdowns by Vikings defenders Darren Sharper, Dwight Smith and Chad Greenway in a 41-17 Minnesota victory. No other Giants opponent had scored on multiple interception return touchdowns in a game before the Falcons on Sunday.

*The scores by Bates and Judon were the fifth and sixth non-offensive touchdowns and the third and fourth via interception scored against the Giants this season. The six return touchdowns tie the Giants with Tennessee for the most allowed in the NFL this season.

Minnesota’s Andrew Van Ginkel scored on a 10-yard interception return, and Dallas’ DeMarvion Overshown picked off a Lock pass and ran it back 23 yards on Thanksgiving Day. Seattle’s Rayshawn Jenkins had the ball float into his hands after an Eric Gray fumble and returned it 102 yards for a touchdown on Oct. 6. Finally, Pittsburgh’s Calvin Austin III ran back a punt 73 yards for a score on Oct. 28.

*Lock also fumbled. It was just the second time this season the Giants committed as many as three turnovers (also vs. Carolina on Nov. 10).

*The Giants did not sack Falcons rookie quarterback Michael Penix, Jr., who made his first career start. It was the fourth time in their last seven games the Giants did not record a sack.

*The Giants, who lost to Baltimore last week, 35-14, have allowed 30 points in consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 5 (30-6 loss at Las Vegas) and Nov. 12 (49-17 at Dallas), 2023.

*The Giants lost their franchise-record 10th consecutive game.

*Darius Slayton caught one pass for 21 yards and gained six yards on an inside handoff. It was his fifth career rushing attempt and second of the season. He had a career-long 11-yard run against Washington on Nov. 3.

*Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott had the Giants’ only takeaway when he intercepted a Penix pass that tight end Kyle Pitts mishandled at the goal line. Flott returned the ball 25 yards with seven seconds remaining in the first half. It was the Giants’ third interception of the season and Flott’s first (second of his career).

*Flott was one of several Giants who returned to action after missing time with injuries. The group included defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches (one tackle) and cornerback Tae Banks (two stops, two passes defensed) and rookie Dru Phillips (six tackles, four solo).

*Rookie linebacker Darius Muasau led the Giants with 11 tackles (four solo).

*Linebacker Micah McFadden, the team’s leader in tackles this season, left the game in the second quarter with a neck injury.

*With Jon Runyan, Jr. on injured reserve (ankle) and Aaron Stinnie in the NFL concussion protocol, undrafted rookie Jake Kubas was the Giants’ starting left guard.

*The Giants’ inactive players were cornerbacks Greg Stroman, Dee Williams and Divaad Wilson, guard Aaron Stinnie, defensive lineman Casey Rogers and Tim Boyle (third quarterback).
