NY civil service: State is hiring positions in the 5 boroughs that don’t require exams
There are more than 300 open positions based in New York City that are currently listed by the state, some with deadlines approaching in the coming weeks.
Many are available via the HELPS program, launched by the State Department of Civil Service, which assists New York agencies to quickly fill critical direct care, health and safety roles, ensuring essential services for New Yorkers.
In the past, candidates for job positions under the HELPS Program had to take competitive exams to qualify for the jobs.
Since its launch in April 2023 to address workforce needs statewide, the program offers job seekers opportunities to start a career with the state without taking a test — streamlining the hiring process for diverse, qualified permanent employees.
