NFL Week 5 Overreactions: Ravens are back, Bills playoff hopes are dwindling
Sports Seriously’s Mackenzie Salmon ‘overreacts’ to the biggest storylines from Week 5— including the Vikings’ 5-0 start and the Cowboys’ thriller victory on SNF.
Sports Seriously
The Giants (2-3) are back home as they welcome in the Bengals (1-4) in Week 6 on Sunday night.
Last week, Big Blue pulled off a big upset, taking down the Seahawks 29-20 as a seven-point underdog in the Pacific Northwest in Week 5.
Now, the Giants come back to the Meadowlands where they’ll play four of the next six games at home, with the two exceptions being Week 8 in Pittsburgh against the Steelers and in Week 10 when they travel to Munich, Germany to play the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 10.
Unfortunately, the G-Men will be without of wide receiver Malik Nabers as he’s still in concussion protocol and did not practice all week. Meanwhile, there’s some hope for running back Devin Singletary, who despite being questionable with a groin injury, has practiced in a limited fashion the entire week.
The Bengals have been one of the most disappointing teams so far in 2024. With high expectations due to the return of QB Joe Burrow — who missed a majority of the second half of last season with a wrist injury — Cincinnati’s come out of the gates slowly, losing four of its first five games.
The issue has been the defense — which has surrendered 24 or more points in five consecutive games, including a season-high 41 in an overtime loss to the Ravens last weekend.
Can the Giants, with two of their best playmakers in Nabers and Singletary all but likely back to take the field, pull off another upset, this time as a home underdog on primetime?

Giants vs Bengals predictions, picks, odds
Giantss 27, Bengals 23: The wrong team is favored here. The Bengals defense has been one of the worst in the entire NFL this season, giving up the second-most points at 29 points per game. Even without Nabers and potentially Singletary, the Giants will continue their impressive play shorthanded as they not only cover as a 3.5-point underdog, but win outright for a second straight game to get back to .500 before the return of Eagles’ RB Saquon Barkley to the Meadowlands in Week 7.
Odds: Bengals by 3.5
Over/Under: 47 points
