The Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants meet Sunday in NFL action from MetLife Stadium. Here’s a New York Giants vs Minnesota Vikings prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Giants vs Vikings pick.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Preview

The Vikings have some work to do after a disappointing 2023 season. Minnesota ended up going 7-10 overall, landing the team in third place among the NFC North (ahead of only the Chicago Bears). Minnesota started out on a promising 6-4 run but would won just one game the rest of the way.

For what it’s worth, Minnesota looked pretty good in their preseason campaign. The Vikings won all three games they played, starting with a 24-23 result versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Minnesota would follow up with wins 27-12 over the Cleveland Browns and 26-3 versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

New York Giants Betting Preview

Over on the Giants’ side, they took a step back in 2023 and turned in a rough record as well. New York was 6-11 overall after going 9-7-1 the season prior. That would put the Giants in third place among NFC East teams and out of the playoffs. Numerous injuries (including QB Daniel Jones) didn’t help matters.

The Giants were able to kick off their preseason showings with a 14-3 win over the Detroit Lions. New York was only able to score 16 points in the remaining two appearances though, both losses to the Houston Texans (28-10) and the New York Jets (10-6).

New York Giants vs Minnesota Vikings Prediction

I’m going to lean toward the Giants at home. I could probably go either way, though. Granted, there’s not a lot of intrigue in this game. Both teams are predicted to struggle once again in 2024, but at the very least we should have a competitive matchup here. There are tons of question marks surrounding both teams—especially on offense. With no Saquon Barkley (gone in free agency) New York has some big shoes to fill in production. Minnesota should have a sneaky good defensive line as well, so the Giants may have trouble finding holes.

That said, I don’t think either team will do much on the scoreboard in this opener. The under seems a trendy play, otherwise this looks like a coin flip cover-wise.
