Sports Seriously
The Giants (2-6) face the Commanders (6-2) for the second and final time this season with this NFC East showdown taking place at MetLife Stadium in Week 9.
Big Blue’s coming off of a short week following a 26-18 loss in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.
Meanwhile, the Commanders are riding high, continuing to lead the NFC East with a 6-2 record after a 18-15 Hail Mary victory over the Bears this past Sunday afternoon.
With their sixth win, Washington’s already surpassed its win total (4) from a season ago and are in prime position to be in the mix for their first postseason berth and NFC East title in four seasons.

Here are our staff predictions for Giants vs. Commanders on Sunday afternoon in Week 9:
Art Stapleton
The pick: Giants 21, Commanders 20
Here’s why: Can Daniel Jones get the offense in the end zone at home? Sometimes the simplicity of things is the most challenging. Big Blue has scored just one touchdown at MetLife in four losses this season, and Jones has not thrown a touchdown pass since the home crowd chanted his name in celebration on New Year’s Day 2023 against the Colts. The Giants are the only team to keep Jayden Daniels and the Commanders out of the end zone this season. He’s obviously a better quarterback and more experienced six weeks later, but Big Blue has to have confidence in how they defended him the last time. The Giants should’ve won the first meeting. Let’s call an upset here with Malik Nabers getting even with his buddy Daniels courtesy of a game-winning score.
Bert Bainbridge
The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 13
Here’s why: The first time these two teams met, the Giants found a way to lose despite not allowing the Commanders to get in the end zone. Since then, these teams have gone in completely opposite directions, with the Commanders leading the NFC East and the Giants in the basement of the division yet again. Don’t expect much to change in their final head-to-head matchup this season.
Vince Mercogliano
The pick: Commanders 26, Giants 16
Here’s why: Who had Washington leading the NFC East by Halloween? If you’re nodding yes, I don’t believe you. The Commanders have defied the pundits by finally finding a franchise QB in dynamic rookie Jayden Daniels (my fantasy team thanks them), and even their suspect defense has been making strides in recent weeks. I’m not sold on them as a legitimate contender in NFC quite yet, but they don’t need to be to beat the reeling Giants.
Steve Edelson
The pick: Commanders 28, Giants 10
Here’s why: With last weekend’s Hail Mary having captivated the country, the Commanders are a hot commodity right now. The Giants are the exact opposite of that.
Chris Iseman
The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 14
Here’s why: The Commanders are better than the Giants right now. There’s no reason to overthink this.
Brian Marron
The pick: Commanders 31, Giants 16
Here’s why: It seems pretty unlikely that the Giants’ sputtering offense can outscore Washington’s attack led by Jayden Daniels. The New York defense will keep things close into the second half, before the Commanders score late to cement a multi-score win.
Dave Rivera
The pick: Commanders 23, Giants 17
Here’s why: Is this really the Commanders’ year? Last week’s Hail Mary victory over the Bears might be an indicator that rookie Jayden Daniels and Co. are going to have a special season. We can’t say the same about Daniel Jones and the Giants.
Bob Jordan
The pick: Commanders 20, Giants 10
Here’s why: The Commanders in their win last week were blessed by help from the Bears’ Tyrique Stevenson. Here, they can count on any number of Big Blue to aid and abet.
