NY Knicks 2024 NBA Free Agency Tracker: Isaiah Hartenstein news and latest updates

The Knicks made multiple, notable additions to their roster last week in acquiring forward Mikal Bridges and bringing back O.G. Anunoby on a five-year,$212.5 million deal.

The franchise lost fan favorite center Isaiah Hartenstein, as he’s reportedly agreed to a three-year $87 million deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to an ESPN report.

This is the just beginning of the massive shake up in the NBA landscape with free agency officially underway as of 6 p.m. on Sunday night.

Knicks’ new lineup: Knicks’ projected starting lineup with Isaiah Hartenstein leaving in free agency

Major moves across the league have already been made, including James Harden staying in L.A. and signing a two-year, $70 million deal with the Clippers, while his now former running mate, Paul George, is headed to Philadelphia on a four-year, $212 million max contract to join Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who also received a five-year $204 million max deal Monday morning to give Philadelphia its new big three.

With George and Maxey both getting max contracts, this makes head-to-head games in the Atlantic Division must-see matchups heading into next season with the Sixers’ new big three, the defending champion Boston Celtics aiming to repeat and the New York Knicks, who fell a game short of taking on Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Knicks have already made two huge additions so far, but are likely far from done trying to compete in the East and in one of the toughest divisions in the NBA.

Here’s our latest, up-to-date free-agent tracker on all the signings and moves the Knicks’ have made during NBA free agency:

Isaiah Hartenstein agrees to deal with Oklahoma City Thunder

The Knicks would’ve liked for Hartenstein to stay in New York, but they could compete with what OKC was giving as he the organization could only offer him the maximum contract of four years, $72.5 million.

Knicks get Mikal Bridges in trade with Nets, keep O.G. Anunoby on massive contract

Before the official start of free agency, the Knicks were one of, if not the most active team in the NBA.

They made two gigantic decisions in the days leading up to the NBA Draft.

First, the Knicks sent the NBA world into a frenzy last week after they traded for Mikal Bridges and a 2026 second-round selection from the Nets in exchange for a Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031), a 2025 protected first round pick (via Milwaukee), an unprotected pick swap in 2028 and a 2025 second round selection.

Not only is Bridges, 27, one of the most durable players in the league and a stout two-way forward, but he also reunites with former college teammates Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart, with the team now dawning the nickname the ‘Nova Knicks’.

With that move, the thought was that O.G. Anunoby, who the Knicks acquired in February ahead of the trade deadline, would be looking for a new home after he declined to opt-in to his player option a week ago.

In a surprising turn of events, less than 48 hours, Anunoby and the Knicks agreed on a five-year, $215 million contract to keep him with the organization through the 2028-29 season.
