Offset Gets Distressed in Chrome Hearts, Doechii Suits Up in Thom Browne, Bad Gyal Goes Strapless in Carolina Herrera and More Kick Off CDFA Public Screenings for NYFW, How to Watch Shows
For the kickoff to New York Fashion Week, Offset, Doechii and Bad Gyal were there to help usher in a new season. The music artists joined the Council of Fashion Designers of America for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday that celebrated the live-streaming of NYFW shows at Rockefeller Center.
For the occasion, Offset, Doechii, and Bad Gyal arrived in tailored looks by CFDA staples. Offset opted for a crisp button-up shirt with a satin tie, a pair of distressed jeans, and an ornate silver-embellished belt and silver wallet chain by Chrome Hearts.
Doechii, who released her “Alligator Bites Never Heal” mixtape at the end of August, wore a classic look by Thom Browne. The rapper donned a button-down shirt and tie with a coordinated sweater vest and striped blazer atop a pleated skirt. Doechii completed the look with Thom Browne’s Hector bag and a pair of pointy-toed brogues.
Bad Gyal, who released her debut album “La joia” this past January, wore a satin ensemble by Carolina Herrera, consisting of a fitted strapless top and a pair of wide-leg trousers.
Also in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony were Anna Wintour, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Thom Browne, Steven Kolb, Wes Gordon and EB Kelly.
“New York Fashion Week is a cultural cornerstone of the city and should be celebrated by all. As the official organizer of NYFW, CFDA is thrilled to be working with Rockefeller Center to stream the fashion shows to the pubic, giving New Yorkers and visitors a front-row seat to the creativity and innovation of American fashion,” said Kolb, CFDA chief executive officer.
The streaming partnership between the CFDA and Rockefeller Center, which is the first of its kind, runs through Sept. 11 at The Rink and is open to the public. The programming will feature a mix of both live-streamed runway shows and pre-recorded runway shows from the likes of Rick Owens, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera, Off-White, Sandy Liang, Coach, Khaite, Brandon Maxwell, Proenza Schouler, Luar, Willy Chavarria, Ulla Johnson, Rachel Comey, Philip Lim, Collina Strada, COS, and Naeem Khan, among others. The full list of designers participating can be seen at the CFDA’s website.
