Rourke, who spent time in the Canadian Football League, actually tried out as a wide receiver for the Giants during rookie minicamp in 2021.

He was undrafted out of Ohio University in 2021, but made his way into the NFL after impressing in the CFL.

Rourke spent three seasons at Ohio, passing for 7,457 yards with 60 touchdowns and only 20 interceptions.

The QB owns the CFL single-season completion percentage record with a 78.7 percent measure on his passes in 2022.

He was named Most Outstanding Canadian that year even though he missed eight games but still threw 25 touchdowns.

In his CFL career he started 12 games and threw for 4,103 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Rourke spent time on the Jaguars practice squad last season before ending up with the Patriots later in the season.

The 25-year-old quarterback was the fifth player of his position on the roster in new England after the team drafted Drake Maye with the third overall pick and Joe Milton in the sixth round.

They also had Jacoby Brissett and Bailey Zappe on the roster to compete with.

The Giants attempted to move up from No. 6 to No. 3, but the Patriots were looking for a historic trade package for the pick.

Instead, they end up with a different Patriots quarterback who will likely compete for the third string position.

The Giants quarterback room currently consists of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito.

All three of those players have experience as starting quarterbacks.

The Giants were unable to draft a new starting quarterback, instead selecting the second wide receiver off the board in Malik Nabers.

New York did a solid job in revitalizing their wide receiver room through the draft and free agency.

Notable wide receivers on the Giants include Nabers, Darius Slayton, Allen Robinson, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt.

Depending on the production of Daniel Jones, the Giants could see an offensive breakout in 2024.

However, they will be without running back Saquon Barkley, who they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
