Paul Pierce says Jalen Brunson has changed his game, and New York Knicks will fall short

Paul Pierce praises Jalen Brunson

The Knicks made a big move in the off-season, trading for Karl-Anthony Towns, a move which appears to have gone better for New York than it has for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The new-look team have made some adjustments, and this has meant Jalen Brunson has a lower points per game than last season, dipping 28.7 to 25.6.

At the same time Brunson’s assists per game have increased from 6.7 to 7.9, and he has been earning praise with his performances.

Brunson has also impressed former NBA champion Paul Pierce, who said he likes how Brunson has adapted his game.

Pierce said, via KG Certified: “I said that Brunson had to change his game, I like the way he playing because he being more of a facilitator too.

“And he know when ‘it’s time for me to score now’. He mixing that up.”

Brunson tied his season high with 37 points in the loss to the Mavericks this week.

Pierce not convinced Knicks will last

Paul Pierce is not convinced the New York Knicks will sustain through the play-offs, despite their strong play, aided by a breakout from OG Anunoby.

He is impressed by their scoring, commenting: “What I seen from them offensively over the last week or so, they putting up over 130 points a game. I ain’t never seen this from a Thibodeau team.”

But he fears the team’s stars will not be able to sustain their success through a long playoff run.

He commented: “End of the year, playoffs and no depth, he run them in the ground, they need one more piece.”
