Pakistan cricket has hit an all-time low as the Babar Azam-led side became a laughing stock on Thursday, June 6, when underdogs USA beat Pakistan in the super over to register their second straight win in this T20 World Cup.
Pakistan were the favourites going into the match, but the hosts were head and shoulders above the Men in Green. Pakistani fans were devastated and even termed it as a ‘Black Day’ in Pakistan’s cricket history.
Meanwhile, the pundits also bashed the players heavily. Amid this, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif took to Twitter to reveal that following the embarrassing defeat against USA, the Pakistani side have cancelled their 25$ ‘Gala Dinner’ with fans scheduled on June 7, for which they were in the news a few days ago.
Notably, before Pakistan’s opening T20 World Cup 2024 game, the PCB organised private dinner event for the team where the fans were also allowed at an entry ticket of 25$.
The purpose of the private dinner was that the fans could interact with their favourite stars.
The move was heavily bashed by several fans and even ex-Pakistani cricketers because the board was charing money from the fans. However, in the latest events, the board has postponed the event which was set to take place in New York on June 7 from 7 pm to 11 pm.
Rashid Latif took to Twitter to announce the news of the postponement.
Pakistan are now set to face India in a must-win match for them on June 9 at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
