Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley hilariously trolled Giants president and co-owner John Mara in a viral ad | NFL News – Times of India

Saquon Barkley may be trolling his former team with his new advertisement ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ season finale against the New York Giants. Barkley, a former G-Men player, appeared in an ad for Unisom, a sleep aid, with a cryptic message possibly directed at Giants owner John Mara, who criticized him for stating he would struggle sleeping if Saquon moved to Philadelphia.

The New York Giants won’t have to worry about facing Saquon Barkley’s challenge for the single-season rushing record in Week 18, but the former Giant is taunting the organization too. Philadelphia Eagles running back Barkley, a former Giant, appeared in a new ad for Unisom, a sleep aid, referencing a quote from Giants co-owner John Mara, who expressed difficulty sleeping if Barkley joined the Eagles.

“I heard some of you were having trouble sleeping, so I wrote you a lullaby,” Barkley says in the ad. “It sure is tough to lose sleep over football. Not for me, though.”
On an episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants,” Mara expressed his displeasure at how the Giants chose to let Barkley walk into free agency without paying him what he was due. Barkley ended up playing for the Eagles and ran 2,005 yards and had 13 touchdowns. He even had a shot at breaking the single-season rushing record against the Giants, and will sit against them with nothing on the line for the Eagles.
Barkley, who will sit for the playoffs in Week 18, is still a short distance from becoming the NFL’s single-season rushing yards king. However, he did break through the 2,000-yard mark Sunday, running for 167 yards, and becoming the ninth player to do so. Barkley said he’d like to break the record, but he has something greater in mind.

“He asked me if I wanted to play, if I wanted to go for it. On Sunday, I probably didn’t care too much for it,” Barkley said this week. “When I slept on it, was like, it’s an opportunity to implant my name in football history. [I] may never get another opportunity like that again. So I’m down. But in the end of the day, I don’t care for putting the team at risk.”

As The Eagles are resting their starters, including Barkley, on Sunday, but the prospect of the running back taking the single-season rushing record against the team that let him walk is thrilling. Barkley will have a week off to prepare for the “bigger goal.”
