Rangers And Knicks Playoff Success Lead To Historic Financial Numbers
Madison Square Garden is the place to be.
The historic arena is the home of both the New York Rangers and Knicks, two teams that are staples of New York sports.
Both the Rangers and Knicks happened to go on deep playoff runs this past season with the Rangers making it to the Eastern Conference Final while the Knicks made it to the second round.
These two respective playoff runs brought historic financial numbers to MSG.
“MSGS reported $227 million in revenue during the 2024 fiscal fourth quarter ending June 30—up $100 million compared to the same period last year—as the Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals and the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Final,” Eric Jackson of Sportico wrote.
“This season was the first since 2013 that saw both MSG teams reach at least the second round of the playoffs in the same year. The combination of seven additional playoff games and four more regular season games compared to last year’s fourth quarter helped MSGS close out a strong fiscal year where total revenue topped a record $1 billion, a 16% jump ($139 million) from the 2023 fiscal year.”
It’s been a while, but for the first time in a longtime, the Rangers and Knicks are elite teams at the same time with serious championship aspirations.
The Rangers and Knicks have teams that New Yorkers can be proud of and they are bringing a buzz to MSG that is just so exciting.
Led by the likes of Igor Shesterkin, Artemi Panarin, Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, there will be a show at MSG almost every night starting in October.
The financial numbers produced by MSG is only the start as the two teams have championship windows that can last for at least two years.
So now you see why MSG is the place to be.
