RB Jacob Saylors faces long climb to make Giants’ 53-man roster

Spring football leagues like the UFL haven’t yet become a feeder system for the NFL. You can, though, find talent there. Jacob Saylors of the New York Giants is an example.

Let’s discuss Saylors as we continue player-by-player profiles of the Giants’ 90-man roster.

Career to date

Saylors had 3,861 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns at East Tennessee State. He spent about a month on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad in 2023 before landing on IR. This spring, he led all UFL running backs with 461 yards rushing on 94 rush attempts (4.9 yards per carry) and five touchdowns along with 23 receptions for an additional 152 yards and three scores.

The Giants signed him last month.

2024 outlook

Saylors would appear to be a long shot to make the roster. Entering training camp Saylors would seem to be at the bottom of a depth chart that includes Devin Singletary, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Eric Gray, Dante Miller and Jashaun Corbin.
