Report: Former Penn State Captain Jonathan Sutherland Signs with New York Giants

Former Penn State team captain Jonathan Sutherland is signing with a second NFL team, agreeing to a deal with the New York Giants, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC2

Sutherland, who played linebacker and safety for the Nittany Lions from 2017 to 2022, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2023. He spent the majority of last season on the practice squad and was released in July.

Sutherland was a special teams ace and Swiss Army knife during his Penn State career. Over his six-year tenure, Sutherland tallied 137 tackles, eight tackles for loss and six pass deflections.

The 5-foot-11, 202-pound Sutherland joins former teammate Theo Johnson and another ex-Penn State player, wide receiver Allen Robinson II, in New York.
