Rihanna Claims Her NYFW Crown with Two Different Sheer Alaïa Looks
If there’s one constant in Rihanna’s style, it’s fluffy coats. Between floor-length leopard furs and her heart-shaped Yves Saint Laurent coat, the Fenty Beauty mogul has an arsenal of envy-worthy outerwear, and she kicked off New York Fashion Week by showing off a recent addition to her collection.
Fresh off of receiving The Daily Front Row Fashion Media award with her stylist Jahleel Weaver, Rih stepped out on Friday night in New York City wearing a confectionary Alaïa coat from the label’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Made of faux shearling, the baby pink jacket bubbled into multiple layers, parting in the middle when the singer shrugged the garment off her shoulders to give way for her look underneath.
The following layer consisted of a sheer halterneck dress, the silky nude fabric of which clung to Rihanna’s body. In her typical fashion, she made the look more risqué by wearing a beige corset underneath, allowing the boning to be seen through the translucent material of the gown. Elsewhere, she accessorized with two different pairs of diamond earrings, while below, she added a pair of simple brown open-toed heels.
A sultry glam helped her transition between looks as she readied herself for a later appearance at the Alaïa Spring/Summer 2025 show. Shimmering silver eyeshadow and fluttery false lashes hinted at the sparkle in her next ensemble, while Rihanna’s hair infused some drama into her look with a deep side part and voluminous curls.
It wasn’t until she emerged at the Guggenheim Museum, where the show was held, that her full look was revealed. Perhaps invoking her famous fishnet dress moment, Rih wore a mesh Alaïa gown embedded with crystals, letting the sheer garment drape off her shoulders as if she had just disembarked from a luxury shipwreck.
Underneath, she opted for another lingerie moment with a cream satin thong corset adorned with pearls. Her white heels continued the embellished theme with straps dripping in additional pearl details, which only stopped their swinging once Rihanna took her seat in the front row.
