Selena Gomez Has Nailed the New York Party Uniform
One of the many great things about New York City is the fact that all residents have a distinct personal style—one that they’ve crafted using inspiration gathered throughout their time on this planet (and from reading Harper’s Bazaar, of course). Still, we New Yorkers are famous for our predominantly sleek, all-black wardrobe, and a walk in Manhattan can serve as a 101 on how to style monochrome black for every occasion.
So, naturally, when Selena Gomez stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Midtown this Tuesday, she dressed the part of a local. For her top, the California-based singer and actor pulled out a white button-up shirt with frilly ruffles at the neck and flared sleeves. She then expertly contrasted the ultrafeminine cottagecore piece with a black sequin-covered cardigan layered on top. The cropped cardigan shimmered as Gomez walked, and the sleeves of her white shirt peeked out at the wrists.
The Only Murders in the Building star continued the party with a very New York staple: the black leather miniskirt. Hers was accented with sewn-on bows at the pockets. Gomez wore the mini with sheer black tights and glossy black pointed-toe heels with a top strap.
Gomez embraced the coquette trend via a pair of diamond bow-shaped earrings and a matching ring. And to wrap up the festive fit, she added a shimmery burgundy manicure, black eyeliner, and a glossy pink lip.
If this isn’t the ultimate holiday-party outfit inspiration, we don’t know what is.
