Should the Boston Celtics be worried about the New York Knicks?
On Friday, September 27, the New York Knicks struck a blockbuster trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves to send Karl-Anthony Towns to the big apple. In doing so, New York instantly became the Boston Celtics biggest threat in the Eastern Conference. Tom Thibodeau now has a roster capable of standing toe-to-toe with Joe Mazzulla’s team and potentially securing a win.
As such, the Celtics must begin exploring ways to break down the Knicks new-look unit. They will undoubtedly use the upcoming season-opener to begin gaining information on how New York is likely to play this season, as the Celtics keep one eye on the conference finals. Towns will ensure the Knicks are capable of running a five-out offense similar to the one Boston has utilized under Mazzulla.
