Small Plane Crashes In New York’s Delaware County: Reports

UPDATE: A single-engine plane crashed in Delaware County, New York, on Sunday afternoon. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the aircraft had taken off from Albert S. Nader Regional Airport and went down near Sidney around 2 p.m. The plane was carrying five people, and their current conditions are unknown. A small plane has reportedly crashed in Masonville, Delaware County, New York. Unconfirmed reports suggest that five people were onboard the aircraft, though no official confirmation has been provided.

According to a scanner from Delaware County 911, the 45 Piper plane with the capacity of six passengers crashed into Lake Cecil around 2pm EDT on Sunday.

Numerous social media users reported witnessing the plane “go down.”

The Priority One Safety Team, a volunteer Emergency Response Team, posted an update on Facebook.

“We are getting information at this time that there may be a Commercial Plane crash located in Delaware County New York. We are currently watching air traffic and listening to the scanner feeds to determine where exactly it is. Crews are still currently searching for the aircraft and no reports of smoke at this time. A Command station is set up at Trout Creek Fire House located In Trout Creek, NY,” the team said in the statement.
