An amputee football team from the Ashanti Region has benefited this year from the annual donation made by Soccer for Dreamers to less privileged teams in Ghana.
This is the first time that Soccer for Dreamers, a not-for-profit organization, has decided to donate to a disabled team since they started this exercise three years ago.
President of Soccer for Dreamers, Mrs. Sylvia Akwaboah, said the decision to donate to a disabled team this year was to ensure that the initiative spreads its wings to support as many teams as possible.
She added that the gesture made to the disability team was indicative of its goal to enhance inclusivity. “The main aim of this initiative is to support all players everywhere, irrespective of where they are. For the first time, we will also have a disability team benefiting because we have been following the country’s exploits in disability football, and we are excited to provide our widow’s mite to support them,” Mrs. Akwaboah said.
The donation made to the disability team included gear from the New York Red Bulls.
The New York Red Bulls are an American professional soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer as a member of the Eastern Conference.
