Spartanburg’s Elysian heads to ‘New York Fashion Week’ for second year

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – One Upstate brand is heading back to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. Spartanburg’s Elysian will be opening the week with their second-annual CatWalk FurBaby show.

The show creates a space for fashion, fundraising and helping pets find their forever families. Organizers say it’s centered around five pillars of Elysian impact: animals, children, women, service and the environment. Each impact represented by a team on the runway made up of a model, a designer, a charity and a furbaby. As each team walks, the charity’s mission is highlighted– bringing together fashion and philanthropy.

In total 20 charitable organizations will share in the spotlight, six of those from right here in South Carolina. The Palmetto State charities are ‘When Life Sucks’ (WLS), a group dedicated to helping veterans, active-duty military, and first responders heal from trauma; Spartanburg Humane Society; CoGlo Amigos, a group creating educational books and videos for children; Nikki Haley’s Original Six Foundation, which helps provide opportunities for schools facing economic hardships; The Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative; and Silent Tears, a group working with survivors of domestic violence and child abuse.

Attendees and viewers will have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award. A Judge’s Choice Award and a Publisher’s Choice Award will also be given out.

The show is Thursday, September 5th at Sony Hall in New York City. Doors open at 10am, with the show starting at 11am. Those who can’t make it in-person are invited to stream the show online. For more information, click here.
