BASEBALL
Warming Bernabel singled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Hartford Yard Goats rallied for a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Friday night in Hartford, Connecticut.
The Sea Dogs took the lead in the first inning when Alex Binelas singled home Kristian Campbell, then made it 2-0 in the second on singles by Tyler Miller and Corey Rosier and a double by Karson Simas.
Hartford tied it with single runs in the sixth and seventh off reliever Zach Bryant, then got the winner in the eighth against Alex Hoppe.
BASKETBALL
NBA: Jalen Brunson has agreed to a four-year contract extension worth about $156.5 million with the New York Knicks, a person with knowledge of the details said.
Brunson could have earned a much bigger deal by waiting a year, but chose the extension on the first day it was available to him in a move that provides a financial benefit to the Knicks.
Brunson had one of the best seasons in franchise history, averaging 28.7 points and finishing fifth in the voting for the NBA’s MVP award.
• The Celtics were grouped with Cleveland, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington for the 2024-25 In-Season Tournament.
• The Philadelphia 76ers agreed on a two-year, $16-million contract with forward K.J. Martin, one of the players acquired last season in the James Harden trade.
GOLF
PGA: Ludvig Aberg shot 6-under 64 for the second straight day to take a one-stroke lead at the Scottish Open, which is sanctioned by both the PGA and European tours.
Antoine Rozner of France was alone in second at 11 under after a 64. Sungjae Im (67) and Matteo Manassero (63) were two shots behind, while Rory McIlroy was in a large group at 9-under 131 that included Collin Morikawa (66) and Sahith Theegala (65).
• Pierceson Coody shot a 67 to maintain a two-stroke lead at the ISCO Championship in Nicholasville, Kentucky, with the weekend cut a PGA Tour-record 8-under par.
Coody, the 24-year-old grandson of 1971 Masters champion Charles Coody, birdied three of his final five holes to 16-under 128.
Chez Reavie had a 62 to join Matthis Besard (63) of Belgium and Rico Hoey (66) of the Philippines at 14 under in the tournament co-sanctioned by the European tour.
LPGA: Japan’s Ayaka Furue held a three-shot lead at the Evian Championship in France when the second round was suspended because of a risk of lightning and thunder.
With five holes left to play in her second round, Furue was at 6 under for the day and 12 under overall, leading Stephanie Kyriacou of Australia and Haeran Ryu of South Korea. Kyriacou completed 16 holes in her second round, and Ryu was through 11.
American Angela Stanford, who won her first major title at the 2018 Evian Championship, was in a tie for fourth place with Patty Tavatanakit at 8 under.
CHAMPIONS TOUR: Steven Alker overcame a double bogey on his fourth hole with three birdies on the back nine at Firestone for a 5-under 65, giving him a one-shot lead over Steve Stricker at the Kaulig Companies Championship in Akron, Ohio.
Alker was at 7-under 133 as he seeks his second major on the seniors tour.
Kenny Perry (69) and Robert Karlsson (66) were three shots behind.
OLYMPICS
WOMEN’S SOCCER: Forward Catarina Macario won’t be able to play at the Olympics because of irritation in her right knee, U.S. Coach Emma Hayes said.
Macario will be replaced on the 18-player roster by alternate Lynn Williams, pending approval by the U.S. Olympic Committee, FIFA and the International Olympic Committee.
GOLF: The International Golf Federation announced with Los Angeles Olympic organizers that Riviera Country Club will host the golf competition in 2028.
CYCLING
TOUR DE FRANCE: Jasper Philipsen won the 13th stage in a sprint finish, and two-time champion Tadej Pogacar kept the yellow jersey as the overall leader.
Philipsen held off Belgian countryman Wout van Aert and German rider Pascal Ackermann at the end of a 103-mile ride from Agen to the southwestern city of Pau.
Pogacar still leads by 1 minute, 6 seconds over Remco Evenepoel of Belgium and by 1:14 over two-time defending champion Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark.
Primoz Roglic, the 2020 runner-up to his Slovenian countryman Pogacar, withdrew before the stage because of injuries from a crash a day earlier.
BASEBALL
MINOR LEAGUES: Seattle Mariners right-hander Yeury Tatiz was suspended for 80 games and Boston Red Sox right-hander Charlie Zink for 56 games following positive tests for performance-enhancing drugs.
Tatiz was suspended for a positive test for Clomiphene under the minor league drug program, the commissioner’s office said. Zink was disciplined for a positive test for Stanozolol under the drug program for minor league players assigned outside of the United States and Canada.
Zink has an 8.53 ERA in four starts for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox. The 18-year-old from Curaçao signed in December for a $70,000 bonus.
HOCKEY
NHL: The New York Rangers re-signed veteran defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year contract.
Ruhwedel was acquired from Pittsburgh in early March. He finished the season with a goal, three assists, 90 hits and 44 blocked shots in 52 games.
