Steelers vs. Giants live updates: NFL scores, game stats, injuries, highlights, analysis for ‘MNF’ showdown
Field goals were the story during the first half of Monday night’s game between the Steelers and Giants, as the score is tied, 9-9, at halftime.
Neither team had issues moving the ball until the ball entered the red zone, which is fitting considering that both the Steelers and Giants boast defenses that are top-10 in the NFL in red zone efficiency. The Steelers were 0 of 3 in the red zone in the first half, while the Giants were 0 of 2. Pittsburgh appeared to get a touchdown, though, before the officials ruled that George Pickens did not get two feet down on an apparent reception in the back of the end zone.
Both teams received solid first-half performances by their quarterbacks. For the Giants, Daniel Jones went 11 of 16 for 141 yards that included two big completions to Darius Slayton that led to points. Russell Wilson was 11 of 18 for 131 yards. Jones wasn’t sacked in the first half, while Wilson endured two nasty sacks late the half after holding onto the ball too long.
The running game was the biggest difference in the first half. Najee Harris has 82 of the Steelers’ 104 rushing yards. Conversely, the Giants picked up just 42 yards on 12 carries in the game’s first 30 minutes.
