Terry Bradshaw learns Justin Fields news ahead of Pittsburgh Steelers game
Justin Fields faces a last-minute decision for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ encounter against the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football”, after it was revealed on FOX that he has a hamstring issue. Steelers veteran Terry Bradshaw, a vocal advocate of Fields, found out about his setback during a live broadcast.
Bradshaw has previously criticised Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s call to start Russell Wilson over Fields once Wilson returned from a calf injury suffered at training camp. Despite Fields leading the team to a 4-2 record, Wilson took over and showcased his skills in the recent convincing victory against the New York Jets.
Looking ahead to the Monday clash with the Giants, Wilson is expected to see increased action as Fields struggles with his hamstring. “Just got off the phone with Mike Tomlin. He said Justin Fields actually tweaked his hamstring late this week,” disclosed FOX NFL Sunday host Jay Glazer, with Bradshaw responding to the news live on-air.
“Doesn’t think he’s going to be able to go tomorrow night. He’s not sure yet. Probably going to have to get an MRI after the game, so it’s going to be all Russell Wilson. But this was a game that they’re kind of hoping to use that two-headed quarterback duo out there, but not really going to be able to do it now because of the hamstring.”
In other unexpected moments on FOX NFL Sunday, viewers were left astounded by Tom Brady’s controversial comment on Josh Allen, while Bradshaw performed a spontaneous ‘voodoo’ song, prompting Curt Menefee to closely inspect his drink.
Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward has revealed the solid support between quarterbacks Russ and Justin within the team, telling Not Just Football: “Between Russ and Justin, they’ve always supported each other,” and “The media and people outside the locker room have pitted these guys against each other. They’ve been very supporting of each other, and they’ve made the team the team.”
He added: “That’s all that’s mattered, and I’m appreciative of it. It doesn’t bring any extra drama. They just come in for business and they both come in ready to perform.”
Wilson himself has spoken highly of Fields, acknowledging his football prowess and expressing confidence in his abilities: “Yeah, I think, first of all, Justin [Fields is] such a tremendous football player,” Wilson remarked to the press on Thursday. He continued, “For us, it’s really about us winning, and him getting in there and playing ball [and] when and if he does, I know he’ll do great.”
He also touched on their teamwork, saying: “There’s always the different things we talk about. How he gets in there, how we do this, how we do that, if that ever comes up. But I just think the biggest thing is just, it’s all about us together. That’s really how I think about it.”
Fields, who had a challenging stint with the Chicago Bears where he was drafted in 2021, was traded to Pittsburgh in the offseason.
