The parent company of Gucci and Bottega Veneta is hiring a store designer in New York

Following our previous look at an opening for a Visualization Designer at Payette, we are using the latest edition of our Job Highlights series to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for a Store Planning Designer at Kering Beauté.

The role, based in New York with the possibility of a remote arrangement, calls for an individual who will “develop and execute store planning strategies for all Kering Beauté Americas brands.” Other responsibilities include conducting space planning analyses to maximize efficiency, optimize store layouts, and enhance customer flow, as well as various technical design, project management, and quality assurance roles. Among the core requirements for the role are a bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field, alongside proven experience in retail design.

Why the role interests us

The open role at Kering Beauté offers us the opportunity to explore the architectural style of the parent company to some of the world’s most recognizable fashion brands, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, and Brioni. Building on its existing portfolio, 2023 saw Kering create its own beauty division named Kering Beauté, under which the latest open role for store planning designer is housed.

Among previous stores completed for brands under Kering’s ownership is the renovated Gucci flagship in Chicago by Kenneth Park Architects, which saw the exterior rebuilt with glass and bronze ribbing upon which an LED ‘Gucci’ nameplate sits. Meanwhile, the interior features high-end finishes such as marble floors and glass and metal fixtures outfitted with jewel-toned furniture and graphic prints.

Elsewhere, Kenneth Park Architects completed Balenciaga’s New York City flagship store, which features deep green marble to its staircase and walls, combined with limestone tiles for patterned flooring. Other materials used include suede, “cracked resin,” polished chrome, poured concrete, and “caviar” wool upholstery.

New York-based Atmosphere Design Group has also delivered several stores for Kering companies including the Gucci store on Soho’s Wooster Street, the Balenciaga store in the Miami Design District, and Bottega Veneta in the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel.
