Thursday Night Football week 3 – Patriots at Jets: How to watch, game time, TV channel, streaming

The New York Jets will take on the New England Patriots to start Week 3 on Thursday Night Football.

This is the latest installment in a long-running rivalry, and an extension of the historic New York – Boston rivalry. But this game also sees the two teams on opposite footings from where they’ve been for most of the last two (plus) decades. This game will feature a Jets team with a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback, what is believed to be one of the best rosters in the NFL, and “championship or bust” expectations. The Patriots, meanwhile, are just starting a rebuild and competing this year is of secondary importance to building a sturdy foundation for when Drake Maye takes over.

For this game, it’ll be veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett quarterbacking a Patriots team that’s been ravaged by injuries. Left tackle Vedarian Lowe and left guard Sidy Sowe are both out of the game, while center David Andrews and right tackle Mike Onwenu are questionable with their own injuries.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Pats will be without starting LB Ja’Whuan Bentley after he suffered a torn pec. Reserve edge (and former New York Giants pass rusher) Oshane Ximines is on IR with a knee injury.

The Jets will be without edge defender Jermaine Johnson after he ruptured his Achilles last week, as well as Haason Reddick who is still holding out for a new contract.

The Jets are 6.5-point favorites per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Chris’ pick: I’ve been singularly bad at picking games this year and have yet to get a single one right… So Patriots fans should rejoice that I’m picking the Jets to win. The Jets are going to be without their two best pass rushers, but the Patriots’ offensive line could only have one (1) healthy starter. They’re also relying on rookie receivers against a very good Jets’ secondary.

“Any Given Sunday” still holds true, even for Thursday nights, but New England is fighting an uphill battle.
