Tommy DeVito’s confidence is STILL sky high in the NFL

We’re so, so close to actual sports being back.

But we need stuff to write about in the meantime.

So what about this?

Illinois great Tommy DeVito’s confidence is still sky high.

DeVito is entering his second year in the New York Giants organization. The team re-signed him to the practice squad this offseason after he started six games as a rookie and became a national icon.

HE WAS EVEN IN A SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL.

Now, he is reportedly battling to give the team a “tough choice” about whether they keep three quarterbacks on the roster, accorindg to The New York Post.

“I’m going to put them in a situation to make a decision,” DeVito said Sunday, per the New York Post. “It’s going to be up to them. I’m going to go out and do my job to the highest ability. It’s not in my hands — this decision.”

“I’m very aware of how they operate in this organization,” he said. “That’s up to them to make that decision, make that gamble. I’m going to continue to play. We’ll see how everything unfolds.

I love how he says it will be a “gamble” if they let him go. Honestly, I wish I had that confidence on a daily basis.

And in his defense, he wasn’t bad last year at all, going 3-3 and throwing for 1,101 yards and eight TDs.

We’ll see what happens in August, but I’m cheering for Tommy. Not a lot of Illini QBs ever making it big in the NFL.
