Top Plays from Friday’s final OTA practice

The Giants wrapped up OTAs Friday with a shorter practice followed by walkthroughs.

The team took the field for one period of team drills, with the reserve offense and defense facing off in 11-on-11s.

Players will return next week for mandatory minicamp, which kicks off on Tuesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, before they break for the summer.

“It’s important,” head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday about OTAs. “Again, it’s a voluntary camp, but we’ve had a great turnout. Again, this is really a teaching camp, too. It really is, particularly for the young players, so they’re mentally prepared going into training camp in a month or so.”

Here are the top plays from Friday’s final OTA practice.

*Tommy DeVito got things started with a sideline pass to Allen Robinson. The veteran receiver had a ton of space to run and broke upfield for what would have been a big gain.

*On the following play, DeVito threw a beautiful pass down the sideline to rookie wide receiver John Jiles, who caught it and got his feet inbounds for a gain of 20+ yards.

*The play of the day came with Nathan Rourke under center. The 26-year-old quarterback threw a perfectly placed ball 30+ yards down the sideline to Lawrence Cager, and the tight end made an acrobatic play to come down with the football.

*Rourke connected with the running backs on a couple of plays, completing passes to both Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Jashaun Corbin for solid gains.

*Wide receiver Chase Cota also got in on the action with a first down reception from Rourke.

*Kaleb Hayes has made some plays during OTAs, and it continued on Friday. The second-year defensive back got his hands on the football and broke up a short pass.

*Rookie defensive lineman Elijah Chatman got into the backfield for a pressure towards the end of the period.
