Touchdowns & Takeaways: Wan’Dale Robinson breaks free; Jason Pinnock grabs INT

Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson broke free for a long touchdown from Daniel Jones during 11-on-11 drills. Both players know what it takes to get back to where they are after tearing their ACLs in successive seasons. Robinson suffered his season-ending knee injury on Nov. 20, 2022, and Jones went down on Nov. 5, 2023.

“I’m definitely not surprised he’s out here,” Robinson said last week. “If you know Daniel, (you know) he’s one of the hardest workers that we have. You knew he was going to do everything he could to be out here and just to be able to go through the team stuff to be ready for Week 1. We have just little differences with what we had to do with our rehabs, just because obviously I have to run a little bit more than he does. But he attacks it each and every day like he’s supposed to.”

Wide receiver/return specialist Isaiah McKenzie showed his ability to shake off defenders, turning a short pass from Drew Lock into a long catch-and-run for a score during team drills.

Safety Jason Pinnock took advantage of a ball going off the hands of a tight end and came down with the lone interception of practice. Last year, Pinnock proved to be a game-changer with two interceptions, one of which he returned 102 yards for a touchdown, and two forced fumbles in his first year as a full-time starter. Dane Belton, who has been lining up opposite him on the first team, is looking to do the same this season. Belton recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff of his NFL debut in 2022. He has gone on to record four interceptions and recover three more fumbles in 32 games (685 defensive snaps), only seven of which were starts.

Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott made a nice play on the ball to break up a pass. Linebacker Bobby Okereke was also in the area.

Outside linebacker Brian Burns would have notched multiple sacks if not for the quarterbacks’ red jerseys.

Wide receiver Dennis Houston made another impressive catch on Sunday, this time hauling in a jump ball deep down the middle of the field from Tommy DeVito.
