Trae Young breaks off live TV interview to send brutal message to Knicks fans
TRAE YOUNG halted his post-game interview to take aim at angry New York Knicks fans.
Young played a pivotal role in the Atlanta Hawks‘ 121-116 victory over the Knicks at State Farm Arena on Wednesday night, racking up 23 points, ten assists and six rebounds.
The point guard’s form earned him a post-match interview, much to the annoyance of the travelling Knicks supporters.
Young was showered with boos from the Madison Square Garden faithful, who he had some choice words for.
He said with a laugh and a smile on his face: “I hope these New York fans find their way to the exit real, real quick.”
After being hit with more boos, 26-year-old Young replied: “Boo, take y’all ass home.”
The interviewer couldn’t help but chuckle at Young’s retort, which spread like wildfire on social media.
One basketball fan said: “I support this from him. I like [it] when there are rivalries in sports. Keep it up, Trey.”
Another said: “Savage.”
And another said: “Trae Young owns New York.”
One remarked: “They ain’t gonna like this.”
Another chimed in: “Trae Young leaning into villain mode.”
Young has been persona non grata for Knicks fans since leading the Hawks to a series win in the 2021 NBA Playoff.
Knicks fans have chanted “F**k Trae Young” ever since, although the insults have done little to affect the Hawks’ star man.
“Oh super funny,” Young said of the abuse he gets from Knicks fans. “That s**t is hilarious.
“I’ll never forget this young, little girl [maybe] 10 [years old].
“If I had to guess, maybe 10 to 12 just giving me the finger right behind the scorer’s table.
“I don’t say nothing to her.
“I just look at the dad and I’m like, that’s cool.”
