PARIS — I’m sitting next to a French “journalist” who was openly cheering/pounding the table/rooting for France against Canada in the quarterfinals. Which, okay: we have homers in the media back in the States, too. But he’s been joining in on the booing of Joel Embiid since the start of the game. Which, again: okay, the French insist that Embiid had committed to play for them in the Olympics, and that he reneged, and they feel some kind of way about it.
Now, though, he’s screaming ‘F– you’ and ‘Rot in hell’ and something involving the French word for excrement at Embiid. Which, again. Okay. But, maybe, buy a ticket and boo and cuss at him from the stands, not the press box.
In other news, Embiid is leading the U.S. team in scoring with 14 points at intermission. It’s 63-36 USA at the half.
