Victim killed in PGA Championship shuttle bush crash ID’d as vendor employee

The victim killed in the early morning accident that caused huge delays at the PGA Championships Friday — ultimately leading to the wild arrest of the world’s No. 1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler — was struck while heading to work at the tournament. 

“This morning we were devastated to learn that a worker with one of our vendors was tragically struck and killed by a shuttle bus outside Valhalla Golf Club,” the PGA of America announced on X.

“This is heartbreaking to all of us involved with the PGA Championship. We extend our sincere condolences to their family and loved ones,” the statement read.

The victim – who has not been named publicly – was crossing Shelbyville Road outside the historic Kentucky golf course at around 5 a.m. when he was fatally struck by the bus, police previously said.

The aftermath of the tragedy led to the arrest of No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, who was processed around 7:30 a.m. on four charges – second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic, according to ESPN.

The 27-year-old was arrested for refusing to stop at a traffic barricade that was set up around the site of the accident, local news said.

A police officer was left with minor injuries with Scheffler failed to yield and dragged the cop with his car.

Scheffler is currently ranked No. 1 world for golf and is tied for 12th place in the major tournament.

He was back at Valhalla Golf Course by 9:13 a.m., and was set to tee off at 10:08.
