This follows an extensive, years-long restoration led by renowned architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The iconic 375-room hotel is set to open in spring 2025, ushering in a new chapter of luxury in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
“Waldorf Astoria New York has always been the place to be in New York City and whether you are a visitor or a New Yorker, we know so many around the globe have their own fond stories with our hotel,” said Luigi Romaniello, managing director, Waldorf Astoria New York. “Visitors returning to the property will notice many of the historical elements, from the Grand Ballroom to the lobby with the famous Waldorf Astoria clock, have been restored to bring back the original grandeur, while thoughtful enhancements were incorporated for today’s traveler. We look forward to lifting the curtain on Waldorf Astoria New York as it makes its grand reveal back to our beloved city and welcoming the world to create new memories at this iconic hotel.”
The revitalized Waldorf Astoria New York will offer elegantly reimagined guest rooms and suites, each designed to provide a luxurious and spacious retreat. The majority of rooms will exceed 570 square feet and blend modern amenities with subtle Art Deco touches, paying homage to the hotel’s legendary past. Pierre-Yves Rochon’s design will ensure that each room serves as a peaceful haven amid the bustling city, combining comfort and refined elegance. The hotel will also feature a 30,000 square foot spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a tranquil outdoor terrace, offering an oasis in the vibrant Manhattan landscape.
The hotel’s signature dining experience will be led by acclaimed Chef Michael Anthony, who will oversee Lex Yard, a two-story American brasserie that promises to captivate both guests and locals alike with its exceptional cuisine. The renowned Peacock Alley lounge and bar, an emblem of the Waldorf Astoria legacy, will be reimagined and restored, becoming the central social hub of the hotel.
“The reopening of Waldorf Astoria New York is more than a milestone—it marks the beginning of a bold new era for our brand,” said Dino Michael, senior vice president and global head, Hilton Luxury Brands. “For over a century, this legendary hotel has defined glamour and sophistication, and now it will serve as the flagship of a reimagined Waldorf Astoria. We’re thrilled to welcome guests back to this famed address, where timeless elegance meets modern luxury. An on-site event planner and manager, along with a dedicated in-house production consultant, will ensure every gathering is flawlessly executed, with additional amenities such as a private entrance to the Grand Ballroom and dedicated elevators.
