What Leon Rose’s track record with first-round picks says about the Knicks’ NBA Draft plan
A lot has been said of the Knicks in recent years exhibiting a refreshing patience after the franchise’s quick-trigger mistakes of yesteryear.
They’re prudent under Leon Rose, a known hoarder of draft picks, but they’re currently operating with a reality incongruous to the reputation.
The Knicks have zero — that’s right, zero — of their own first-round picks on the roster. Kevin Knox? Gone. Frank Ntilikina? Gone longer. RJ Barrett? Gone. Obi Toppin? Gone. Immanuel Quickley? Gone. Quentin Grimes? Gone.
They still have a trio of their second-rounders — Mitchell Robinson, Miles McBride, Jericho Sims — but Rose, to his credit, hasn’t been attached to his picks.
