What time is the Steelers game tonight? What to look for in MNF game against Giants
A QB change may be on the horizon for the Pittsburgh Steelers
After Pittsburgh’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys, it may be time for head coach Mike Tomlin to make a change at quarterback.
Sports Seriously
The Pittsburgh Steelers, sitting at 5-2 and tied for first place in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens, have gotten bit healthier in the defense as the team preps for its its Monday Night Football home showdown against the wobbling New York Giants.
Here’s what you need to know about tonight’s matchup, including what to look for.
Steelers‘ defense a talking point after Thursdays’s practice
Center Zach Frazier and linebacker Nick Herbig, who both missed last week’s victory over the NY Jets, did not practice on Thursday, according to the official injury report readout from the Steelers.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he will expect backup center Ryan McCollum to continue to excel, should Frazier miss Monday night’s game.
“I thought it was double thumbs up. I’m not surprised by that,” Tomlin said after Thursday’s practice in comments relayed on the Steelers’ website. “As I mentioned, when I talked about Ryan last week, he’s mature beyond his years. He brings a really professional approach. He’s really urgent in everything he does, and I just think that tees you up for performance.
“I don’t think any of us were surprised that he was above the line in terms of how he performed last week.”
Jets QB Aaron Rodgers will also have to contend with a healthy Steelers’ backfield.
Cornerback Donte Jackson suffered a shoulder injury against the Jets, but isn’t expected to miss the Jets game.
And safety Damontae Kazee should return after missing the last two games.
Quarterback controversy brewing in Pittsburgh?
Mike Tomlin made a move at quarterback, bringing in Russell Wilson for the Jets game while benching Justin Fields, who led the Steelers to a 4-2 record in Wilson’s absence.
Tomlin, however, made no mention of the QB switch, and neither Fields nor Wilson were listed on the injury report.
So as things stand, it appears Wilson will start the Monday Night Football game, and will be the Steelers’ starting quarterback moving forward.
