A new golf league tees off tonight in Palm Beach County with the first match of TGL. Will Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy end up winning the league they founded?
We won’t get to see either of them take part tonight in the inaugural match at the new SoFi Center. The opener pairs New York Golf Club — starting Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler and Matt Fitzpatrick tonight — against The Bay Golf Club, countering with Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Aberg and Shane Lowry.
TGL is an indoor golf league that pits two teams against each other in a 15-hole match that incorporates both 3-on-3 and singles play. Golfers tee off into a giant simulator screen, then transition to a rotating “Green Zone” for chipping and putting on a surface that can be adjusted for each individual hole.
