Why isn’t Taysom Hill playing for the Saints against the Giants in Week 14?

The Saints face the New York Giants today without Taysom Hill, who is a long-term absentee after suffering a serious knee injury in New Orleans’ Week 13 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday.

What injury does Taysom Hill have?

Hill tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the 21-14 loss at Caesars Superdome, which left the Saints with a 4-8 record in the 2024 regular season.

Hill ACL diagnosis “a sad day” – Saints coach

Really I just feel bad for Taysom the person,” New Orleans interim head coach Darren Rizzi said on Tuesday, per Andrew Lang of NewOrleansSaints.com. “There’s a human element to it that sometimes we forget and the relationship that Taysom’s built with not only myself, but the entire locker room, coaching staff, community. So, it’s a sad day and it’s a day that’s a little bit tough to get through.

“But, just like Taysom would want us all to do, we’ve got to move forward and move on and try to figure out a way to win this week.”

A versatile player who can operate at quarterback, tight end or running back, Hill this season ran for 278 yards and six touchdowns, received for 178 yards and passed for 21 yards. Dubbed the “Human Swiss Army Knife”, the 34-year-old is in his seventh season in the NFL, having joined the Saints as an undrafted rookie in 2017.
