Will Karl-Anthony Towns play today for the Knicks against the Raptors?
The New York Knicks are gunning for glory in the NBA Cup, in which they will take on the Atlanta Hawks in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (December 11). Before then, however, they face the Toronto Raptors in a regular-season game on Monday, with question marks surrounding the fitness of key man Karl-Anthony Towns.
What injury does Karl-Anthony Towns have?
After a run of four straight victories, the Knicks were beaten by the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, a result which leaves them 14-9 and in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Towns missed the weekend loss because of a sore right knee, which is technically listed as ‘patellar tendonopothy’ on the latest NBA injury report. It shows the 29-year-old is also questionable for the game against the Raptors, with a game time decision to be made on whether he features or not.
Towns’ impressive Knicks numbers
The center has made a big impact since joining the Knicks from the Minnesota Timberwolves in October, averaging 25.1 points, 13.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 0.9 blocks per game. Those are some of the best figures he has posted in his career, with some observers even tentatively suggestion he could be an outside bet for this year’s MVP.
