Woj: Former Indiana forward OG Anunoby lands $212.5 million deal with the New York Knicks
Former Indiana forward OG Anunoby has landed a mega NBA deal.
The 6-foot-7 forward is set to sign a five-year, $212.5 million deal to stay with the New York Knicks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal will push Anunoby’s career NBA earnings to approximately $274.3 million, per NBA salary data.
Anunoby made $18.6 million this past season when he played 27 games with the Toronto Raptors and 23 with the Knicks, battling an elbow injury and then a hamstring issue against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Knicks acquired Anunoby in a trade on Dec. 30, 2023.
The deal will keep Anunoby from being a free agent come July, Woj reports.
Anunoby, who turns 27 on July 17, was drafted No. 23 by the Toronto Raptors in the 2017 draft after two seasons with the Hoosiers. His sophomore season was cut short (16 games played) due to injury.
Anunoby, who played AAU for Team Thad, was a player former IU coach Tom Crean found when Crean was at an AAU event initially scouting another player. Anunoby caught Crean’s eye, and Crean recruited him aggressively and landed him, even though Anunoby, who played sparingly that spring and summer due to various minor injuries, was fairly unknown at the time.
Anunoby played high school basketball at Jefferson City (MO).
