WHAT TO KNOW

•    The Babson women’s golf team will travel to Central New York for their first appearance at the Hamilton Invitational hosted at Rome Country Club on Saturday and Sunay.
•    The Beavers are among 14 teams set to tee it up at Rome Country Club, a 5,933-yard, par-72 layout.

ABOUT THE BEAVERS

•    Babson finished in a tie for ninth place at the Williams Invitational last Sunday at Taconic Golf Club.

•    First-year Alice Zhu shot 75-78 to tie for 15th place at 11-over 153, classmate Camille Amaya (76-79) posted a 13-over total of 155 to tie for 26th overall, and fellow rookie Hannah McCarthy tied for 43rd position at 18-over after carding rounds of 78-82 for the Beavers, which finished with a 36-hole total of 630.

•    Amaya, who tied for fifth at the Polar Bear Shootout to open the season, is first on the team with a 75.75 stroke average, while Zhu (76.25) has posted back-to-back top-15 finishes to begin her career.

•    McCarthy (77.50) tied for ninth at the Polar Bear Shootout, first-year Jennie Pan (79.75) opened with a 76 at the Williams Invitational and senior Sarah Ji shot 77-82 to tie for 27th position at the Polar Bear Shootout on September 14-15.

•    Through its first two events, the Green and White boasts a 309.00 team scoring average.

LOW ROUNDS

•    Amaya and McCarthy both matched the low individual score in program history by shooting 72 in the final round of the Polar Bear Shootout back on September 15.

•    Their matching rounds of 1-under equaled sophomore Laura Lu’s 1-over 72 on the opening day of the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate on April 5 of last year.

•    Babson’s score of 6-over 298 in the final round and 36-hole total of 606 at the Polar Bear Shootout on September 14-15 are also the best in the short history of the program.

ANOTHER FIRST

•    After placing fifth at the Polar Bear Shootout and tying for ninth at the Williams Invitational, the Beavers were among a group of teams receiving votes for the first time in school history when the WGCA released its latest top 25 on Friday.

•    Five New England programs are nationally ranked and Babson, Bowdoin and Wesleyan are three of nine squads that received at least 10 points in the new poll.

STRONG FIELD MEETS IN CENTRAL NEW YORK

•    This weekend’s field includes five nationally-ranked programs, including No. 9 Wellesley, which is coming off back-to-back victories at Middlebury’s George Phinney Classic and the Williams Invitational.

•    No. 6 Williams, No. 13 Amherst, No. 23 Hamilton and No. 24 Middlebury, which tied for ninth alongside the Beavers last weekend at Williams.

UP NEXT

•    The Beavers will conclude the fall portion of their schedule on October 19-20 at the NEIGA Championship in Brewster, Mass.
