MIAMI: Ten cricket pitches have traversed the East Coast from Florida to New York, finding their new home in a stadium tailored for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

These “drop in pitches,” meticulously crafted by Australian curator Damian Hough in Florida, embarked on a journey via 20 trailer trucks along the I-95 highway to Long Island. Their arrival signals the anticipation of matches, notably the India-Pakistan showdown.

Winter’s grip in New York necessitated the pitches’ cultivation in Florida’s warmer climate before transportation. The arduous journey, spanning over 24 hours from Boynton Beach to Nassau County, saw meticulous care to shield the grass from adverse weather.

Chris Tetley, from the International Cricket Council, hailed the logistical feat of transporting the pitches through multiple states. The temporary stadium, hosting 34,000 spectators at Eisenhower Park, awaits the thrill of T20 cricket, promising pitches conducive to aggressive batting.
